Job description

Are you a patient, passionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant looking to make a real difference in a child’s day-to-day school experience? GSL Education are seeking a caring and committed LSA to work on a 1:1 basis with a pupil who has Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a warm and supportive primary school in Brentwood.

This is a long-term, full-time role, starting as soon as possible, offering the chance to build a strong, positive relationship with one child and support their progress both academically and emotionally.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Providing consistent 1:1 support to a child with SEN needs throughout the school day

  • Helping to implement individual learning plans and behaviour strategies

  • Creating a calm, encouraging and structured environment that enables the child to thrive

  • Assisting with class-based activities and adapting tasks where needed

  • Building a trusting, positive relationship to help increase confidence and independence

  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals

  • Supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing through patience, empathy and routine

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN—including ASD, ADHD, communication needs or learning difficulties

  • A nurturing, resilient and proactive approach

  • Someone reliable, compassionate and able to use initiative

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly

  • A genuine passion for helping children reach their full potential

Relevant training (e.g. autism awareness, behaviour support, speech & language strategies) is beneficial but not essential.

What GSL Education Can Offer You:

  • Competitive daily rates

  • Long term stability within a welcoming primary school

  • Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant

  • Opportunities for professional development and SEN-specific training

If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact and support a child who deserves patience, understanding and consistency, we’d love to hear from you.
