SEN Teacher
Location: Newham
Salary: £185 – £265 per day

GSL Education London Branch are looking for a passionate and adaptable SEN Teacher to join a welcoming coeducational secondary school in Newham. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic SEN Teacher who is confident in supporting a diverse range of learners and is committed to helping students with complex needs make real progress. The school offers a supportive environment where the successful SEN Teacher will play a key role in both mainstream and specialist settings.

This long-term role, commencing in January, is ideal for an SEN Teacher who enjoys being creative, flexible, and confident in working across various pathways. You will be working within a mixed provision that includes a mainstream secondary environment as well as a Resourced Provision for students with PMLD. As an SEN Teacher, you will have the opportunity to deliver ASDAN qualifications, teach KS3 English, and support learners through small-group interventions.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teacher

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons for a Sensory Class using ASDAN qualifications (Entry Level to Level 1).

  • Teach mainstream option blocks in Year 10 and 11.

  • Deliver English lessons at Key Stage 3.

  • Provide direct intervention and small group support for SEN learners.

  • Adapt and differentiate schemes of work from mainstream curriculum topics.

  • Support sensory learners, pre-formal and KS1-level learners, and mainstream SEN / Level 1 learners.

  • Monitor progress and keep accurate records of student development.

Requirements for the SEN Teacher

  • Qualified Primary, Inclusion, or Secondary-trained teacher.

  • Confident in delivering and administering ASDAN qualifications.

  • Strong understanding of differentiation for complex needs.

  • Ability to work creatively and flexibly within a mixed educational provision.

  • Experience supporting PMLD, sensory learners, and students working at varying academic levels.

  • Good behaviour management and a positive, calm classroom approach.
