EYFS/Nursery Teaching Assistant

Location: Sheffield - S20/S12/S21/S26

Start time: Immediate and Jan 2026 Start Dates

Contract: Full Time - Part time roles available

Do you have experience working with children in EYFS and have a desire to make a meaningful impact in the classroom?

If so, GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Sheffield. For this role you must have the relevant experience and qualifications to work in a nursery setting, due to the pupil/staff ratios required in EYFS.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant (TA), you will play a vital role in assisting teachers with classroom activities, supporting pupils with their learning and ensuring a positive and inclusive educational experience. You will work closely with students, helping them develop their confidence and achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and interactive lessons tailored to EYFS
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils, including those with additional learning needs.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour, ensuring a structured and positive learning environment.
  • Assist with lesson planning, resource preparation and classroom organisation.
  • Support students' emotional and social development through encouragement and guidance.
  • Monitor and record student progress, liaising with teaching staff and SEN coordinators when necessary.

Requirements of the Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role with EYFS.
  • Knowledge of the curriculum and effective teaching support strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy and an understanding of how to support children’s individual needs.
  • A relevant, EYFS qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate) or in depth experience
  • Commitment to professional development and the ability to adapt to new teaching techniques and practices.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
