A welcoming and well resourced specialist SEN provision within a primary school is looking for a compassionate and committed Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with Autism. This is a long term role offering stability, training, and the chance to make a meaningful difference in a child’s daily school experience.

About the Role

You will be working closely with one pupil, supporting them throughout the school day to help them feel safe, understood, and able to access the curriculum. The provision is nurturing, structured, and supported by a knowledgeable SEN team who will guide you every step of the way.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing consistent 1-1 support for a child with Autism within a specialist setting

  • Helping the pupil regulate emotions, engage with learning, and build confidence

  • Working with class teachers and SEN staff to follow personalised learning plans

  • Using visual aids, routines, and communication strategies to support progress

  • Encouraging independence, positive behaviour, and social skills

  • Creating a calm, safe, and supportive environment

  • Supporting the child during transitions and unstructured times

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with Autism or additional needs (school or similar setting)

  • A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to build trust and positive relationships with pupils

  • A genuine passion for supporting children with SEN

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
