Role: Autism Support Worker

Location: Weymouth

Salary: £13.68 – £16.12 per hour (Depending on experience)

Contract Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic Autism Support Worker to join a welcoming school in Weymouth. As an Autism Support Worker, you will offer tailored support to pupils on the autism spectrum, helping them access learning, build confidence, and develop essential life skills.

This opportunity is perfect for an experienced Autism Support Worker or someone with a background in SEN, care, or behaviour support who is passionate about making a real difference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with autism.
  • Assist with communication, sensory needs, emotional regulation, and social interaction.
  • Help adapt learning activities to suit individual needs and strengths.
  • Implement support strategies and follow guidance from SENCOs and teaching staff.
  • Encourage independence, participation, and positive engagement in the classroom.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships to promote pupil well-being and progress.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience as an Autism Support Worker or similar SEN role.
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding of ASC, sensory needs, anxiety, and behaviour support strategies.
  • A genuine passion for supporting neurodiverse learners.
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
