Job description

Are you patient, caring, and passionate about helping children thrive?

A warm and welcoming primary school in Harlow is looking for a dedicated 1-1 Teaching Assistant to support a KS1 child with additional needs. This is a rewarding long-term role where you’ll make a genuine difference every single day.

About the Role

You’ll be working closely with a lovely child in KS1 who needs extra support with their learning, confidence, and daily routines. The school has a supportive team, a friendly atmosphere, and staff who truly value their teaching assistants.

Your role will involve:

  • Providing 1-1 support to help the child access learning

  • Encouraging communication, independence, and positive behaviour

  • Supporting emotional regulation and offering reassurance when needed

  • Working alongside the class teacher and SENCO to follow tailored plans

  • Celebrating progress — big or small — and keeping the child motivated

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with SEN (ASD, ADHD, or similar needs)

  • A warm, adaptable, and nurturing approach

  • Confidence in supporting learning within a KS1 setting

  • Good communication and a team-player mindset

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Why This Role Is a Great Opportunity

  • A genuinely supportive, inclusive school environment

  • A chance to build a strong, meaningful relationship with one child

  • Guidance from a knowledgeable SENCO and experienced staff

  • Full-time, long-term stability

  • A role where your encouragement and creativity can make a huge impact

If you love helping children feel confident and understood — and you enjoy being part of a positive school community — this could be the perfect role for you.
