GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Maths Teacher to join a specialist educational setting in York from January 2026 on a full-time basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people with complex needs, providing engaging and accessible Maths learning that helps them build confidence, independence, and academic progress.
About the Setting
The provision supports students aged 5–16 who experience a wide range of social, emotional, and mental health needs, alongside those who may have additional learning needs or have faced significant barriers to education. The environment is nurturing, trauma-informed, and highly supportive, with a strong focus on personalised learning, relationship-building, and meaningful progression for every learner. Class sizes are small, staffing ratios are high, and collaborative working is central to their approach.
The Role:
As a Maths Teacher / Tutor, you will:
- Deliver differentiated Maths lessons and tailored 1:1 or small-group sessions to students in Key Stage 4.
- Create engaging, hands-on learning experiences suited to students with SEMH or SEND needs.
- Track progress and adapt planning to meet personalised learning pathways.
- Work closely with support staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies.
- Contribute to a safe and positive learning environment that promotes resilience and re-engagement.
- Support students in developing functional numeracy and confidence in Maths.
As the Ideal Teacher of Maths, you will be:
- A Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), FE teaching qualification, or tutoring experience within Maths.
- Experience working with SEMH, SEND, or alternative provision is highly desirable.
- Strong behaviour-support skills and a relationship-centred approach.
- Adaptability, resilience, and a passion for making education accessible to all learners.
- The ability to differentiate effectively and deliver creative learning opportunities.
