Job Title: Specialist SEN Learning Support Assistant

Location: Colchester

Daily Rate: £85 – £110 per day

Start Date: Immediately

Contract Type: Full-time

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist provision supporting children in Reception through to Key Stage 2 with cognition and learning needs, communication difficulties, and complex SEN profiles.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

• Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of learning and communication difficulties

• Supporting the delivery of a multi-sensory, play-based and structured curriculum designed to meet individual EHCP targets

• Promoting communication and language development using visual aids, Makaton, PECS, and sensory strategies

• Assisting pupils with personal care routines, mobility, and emotional regulation where required

• Collaborating closely with teachers, therapists, and the SENCO to deliver consistent, person-centred support

• Contributing to pupils’ progress tracking and celebrating their personal achievements

• Creating a safe, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

• Has experience working with children with additional or complex learning needs (Autism, Global Developmental Delay, Speech & Language Needs, ADHD, etc.)

• Demonstrates patience, empathy and resilience in supporting children with diverse needs

• Can work effectively within a team of teachers and therapists to provide holistic learning support

• Holds or is willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
