SEMH Outreach Tutor
Location: Hull
Daily Rate: £140 per day (Day-to-day) or paid to scale for Long-term
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time
Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and helping them overcome barriers to learning?
GSL Education are seeking a committed SEMH Outreach Tutor to work on a 1:1 basis with pupils across community settings and alternative provisions in Hull.
About the Role:
As an SEMH Outreach Tutor, you will deliver tailored lessons and interventions that meet the unique needs of each learner. Working independently across various settings, you will support students who may struggle with engagement, emotional regulation, or complex behaviour. Your ability to provide structure, positivity, and consistency will be key to helping students progress both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver personalised lessons in line with each student’s abilities, targets, and learning style.
- Provide 1:1 support to pupils with SEMH needs in community locations, homes, or alternative provisions.
- Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage engagement and emotional stability.
- Apply effective behaviour management strategies when supporting pupils with challenging behaviours.
- Monitor progress, adapt teaching approaches, and provide regular feedback to the wider support team.
SEMH Outreach Tutor Requirements:
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs or behavioural challenges.
- Strong behaviour management skills and confidence working independently.
- A teaching qualification, tutoring experience, or specialist SEMH background is highly advantageous.
- Ability to plan and deliver personalised learning with creativity and resilience.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work sensitively with vulnerable young people.
- A valid enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
