Pay Scale: £16 – £18 per hour
GSL Education are currently working in partnership with a well-established secondary school in Haringey that is seeking an experienced School Administrator to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong administrative experience within a school setting to play a key role in supporting the smooth, efficient, and professional running of the school office.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a UK school environment and be confident in using SIMS or other school management systems. This role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities of a School Administrator:
General Administration:
- Managing daily administrative tasks, including reception duties, phone calls, emails, filing, and maintaining accurate records.
- Supporting the wider school office team in ensuring efficient day-to-day operations.
Attendance & Student Records:
- Monitoring and recording student attendance accurately using SIMS (or similar MIS).
- Updating and maintaining student records, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
SIMS & Data Management:
- Using SIMS to input, update, and retrieve information as required.
- Supporting staff with SIMS-related queries and assisting in producing data reports when needed.
Safeguarding & Compliance:
- Assisting with safeguarding administration, ensuring documents are stored and managed in line with school policies.
- Supporting compliance processes, including DBS checks, visitor management, and maintaining up-to-date safeguarding records.
Communication & Liaison:
- Acting as a professional and welcoming first point of contact for parents, visitors, and external stakeholders.
- Liaising with teachers, support staff, and senior leadership to support the smooth running of school operations.
Finance & Office Support (where required):
- Assisting with basic finance tasks such as processing invoices, tracking orders, and supporting budget monitoring.
- Undertaking additional office duties, including preparing letters, reports, and school communications.
The Successful School Administrator Will Have:
- Previous school administration experience (essential).
- Working knowledge of SIMS or willingness to be trained (SIMS experience strongly preferred).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a busy school environment.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in data handling and record maintenance.
- A professional, calm, and proactive approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong IT literacy, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- An understanding of safeguarding, GDPR, and confidentiality requirements in schools.
- Enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
