SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £86 – £100 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and understanding SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our client schools located in Sheffield.
This is an exciting opportunity for an empathetic individual to work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to ensure that students receive the emotional and academic support they need to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities of an SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Support students with SEMH needs within the classroom, during lessons, and throughout the school day.
- Assist in developing and implementing individualised learning and behaviour support plans.
- Encourage students to build confidence, resilience, and self-esteem through positive engagement.
- Work collaboratively with class teachers and SENCOs to deliver tailored interventions.
- Support students in small groups or on a one-to-one basis to help them achieve academic and personal goals.
SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural challenges.
- CACHE Level 2 or 3 / NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (desirable but not mandatory).
- A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient and empathetic approach.
- Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively.
- A valid enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
