SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time, Immediate Start

Location: Salford
Start Date: ASAP (Trials and interviews taking place immediately)
Hours: Full-Time (Term-Time, Monday to Friday)
Salary: £18,500 - £21,500

GSL Education Manchester is proud to be working in partnership with a specialist SEN school in Salford, supporting children aged 4–11 with Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and a range of complex learning needs. We are currently recruiting for dedicated Teaching Assistants to join the team as soon as possible on a full-time, long-term basis, with trial days and interviews taking place immediately.

This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference every day by supporting children with complex SEND needs in their learning and development. You will work closely with experienced teachers, therapists, and support staff to help pupils access the curriculum, develop social and communication skills, and engage positively in school life.

This role includes a mix of educational support and elements of personal care, ideal for someone caring, flexible, and motivated to work in a specialist SEND environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils across EYFS and primary phases to access learning

  • Assist with communication, emotional regulation, and sensory needs

  • Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions as directed by teaching staff and SENCOs

  • Promote independence and positive behaviour in line with individual EHCPs

  • Support with personal care in a respectful and professional manner

  • Record observations and progress to contribute to pupil reviews and planning

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children with complex or profound SEND (essential)

  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting pupils

  • Confidence in building relationships and managing challenging behaviour calmly

  • A commitment to inclusion, teamwork, and pupil wellbeing

  • A willingness to learn, take direction, and adapt to individual needs

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply) and two recent professional references
