About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Autism Support Assistant to provide targeted support for pupils with ASC. You will work closely with the SEN team and class teachers to implement personalised learning plans, promote independence, and ensure pupils can access the curriculum effectively. This is a highly rewarding role where you can make a direct impact on children’s learning, confidence, and development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 or small-group support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition.

  • Assist in planning and delivering lessons, ensuring adaptations to meet individual learning needs.

  • Support behaviour management, implementing strategies to encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.

  • Collaborate with teachers, SEN coordinators, and parents to monitor progress and adapt support strategies as required.

  • Assist with personal care where necessary, maintaining pupils’ dignity and well-being.

  • Maintain accurate records of pupil achievements and observations to inform ongoing support and interventions.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition or additional learning needs.

  • Knowledge of ASC strategies, differentiation, and inclusion within primary education.

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with pupils, colleagues, and parents.

  • Ability to adapt activities and approaches to meet individual learning needs.

  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices within a school setting.
