Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Worthing
Pay Rate: £90 – £95 per day (depending on experience)

GSL Education are seeking an SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Worthing. This is an excellent opportunity to help young learners overcome challenges, build confidence, and develop essential emotional and academic skills in a nurturing environment.

Role Overview:

As an SEMH TA, you will help maintain a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment that promotes emotional wellbeing and engagement.

As an SEMH TA, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
  • Help create a calm, structured, and encouraging learning environment.
  • Assist teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff in delivering tailored learning and behaviour support plans.
  • Promote pupils’ resilience, self-regulation, and positive social interactions.
  • Support pupils with emotional wellbeing and confidence-building.
  • Monitor progress and share observations with staff to inform continued support.

Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs (school or care experience desirable).
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and behaviour management skills.
  • A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach to working with learners facing challenges.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
