Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: £86 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are recruiting a dedicated SEMH TA to join a caring and welcoming school in Rotherham, where you will play a key role in helping young people grow, succeed, and build essential life skills.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Deliver personalised one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
- Foster a safe, structured, and encouraging learning environment that supports engagement and emotional wellbeing.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to apply effective behavioural and learning strategies.
- Encourage resilience, confidence, and positive social skills in pupils.
- Respond to challenging behaviour with calmness and consistency, using restorative techniques.
- Track pupil progress and share updates with staff to support ongoing development.
Requirements for the SEMH TA role:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural, or additional learning needs.
- A patient, compassionate, and proactive attitude towards learning support.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow teacher or SENCO guidance.
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any employment gaps.
