SEN English Teacher – Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire

Start Date: December 2025

Contract: Until July 2026 (with potential for extension)

Salary: £165 – £185 per day (dependant on experience)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

GSL Education is seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN English Teacher to join one of our fantastic partner schools in Stoke-on-Trent, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

This is a full-time role, perfect for an English specialist who thrives on creativity, connection, and challenge, and who believes every young person deserves the chance to shine.

The Role:

  • Teach small groups of learners with SEMH and Autism, adapting lessons to suit individual learning needs.
  • Deliver engaging and creative English lessons designed to inspire confidence and communication.
  • Work collaboratively with a dedicated SEN team to promote academic, social, and emotional progress.
  • Track and celebrate student growth, focusing on personal as well as academic achievement.
  • Contribute to a supportive and nurturing learning environment that values well-being as much as learning outcomes.
  • Delivering high-quality planning and marking that reflect the school’s teaching standards and student learning goals.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) – or is working towards it.
  • Has experience teaching students with SEMH, ASD, or other additional learning needs.
  • Demonstrates resilience, empathy, and creativity in their approach to teaching.
  • Has a strong command of English and a passion for inclusive education.
  • Understands the importance of emotional literacy and building trust with young learners.
