Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)
Location: Sheffield – S9
Pay Rate: £95 – £120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH TA to join a nurturing school in Sheffield. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who truly wants to make a difference in the lives of pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Help students develop confidence, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour.
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering supportive learning activities.
  • Encourage engagement and build trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to create a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Support the implementation of behaviour and learning support plans.

Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs is desirable.
  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to remain positive and resilient in challenging situations.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
