Job Title: Primary Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: £85 - £110 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to join a warm and supportive primary school in Barnsley. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting impact in a role that values care, creativity, and enthusiasm.
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key role in helping pupils grow — not just academically, but socially and emotionally — within a safe and inspiring learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Support the class teacher in delivering lively, engaging, and meaningful lessons.
- Assist children in developing their skills in literacy, numeracy, and across the wider curriculum.
- Offer 1:1 or small-group support to pupils who may need extra guidance.
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and active participation in class.
- Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom setting.
- Observe pupil progress and share insights with the teaching team.
- Uphold strong safeguarding and child welfare standards at all times.
Requirements for the role of Primary Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience supporting children in an educational or childcare setting.
- A warm, patient, and proactive approach to nurturing young learners.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational abilities.
- A genuine passion for helping children grow and succeed.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- A full CV covering the last 10 years with explanations for any gaps.
