Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Rotherham (S66)
Pay Rate: £86 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated SEMH TA to join a nurturing and inclusive school in Rotherham (S66). This rewarding position offers the opportunity to support pupils in overcoming barriers to learning, building self-confidence, and developing essential life skills in a supportive classroom environment.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural challenges.
- Help establish a structured and positive learning environment that encourages emotional stability and academic engagement.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to deliver personalised support plans.
- Encourage positive social interactions, self-esteem, and emotional resilience among pupils.
- Manage challenging behaviour calmly, using consistent and restorative strategies.
- Support teachers by monitoring pupil progress and providing constructive feedback to inform future planning.
Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural difficulties, or additional learning needs.
- A calm, compassionate, and proactive approach to supporting pupils.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow guidance from teachers and adapt to changing classroom situations.
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
