Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Barnsley, S75
Salary: £85 – £110 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a warm and inclusive school in Barnsley. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with diverse learning needs, helping them overcome challenges and achieve personal success.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, and communication or learning difficulties.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to help pupils access lessons and reach learning goals.
  • Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to implement tailored learning and behaviour support plans.
  • Encourage confidence, independence, and positive social interactions among pupils.
  • Promote an inclusive, calm, and supportive learning environment.
  • Track and report pupil progress to contribute to ongoing development plans.

Requirements for SEN TA:

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN is desirable but not essential.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with children with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine commitment to promoting the wellbeing and academic growth of all learners.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
