Salary: £150 – £250 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEMH Secondary Teacher to join a specialist secondary school in Newham, supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is an exciting opportunity for an educator who thrives on creating meaningful connections, fostering emotional wellbeing, and promoting academic success for every learner.
As an SEMH Secondary Teacher, you will play a vital role in helping students re-engage with learning, build confidence, and develop strategies to overcome barriers both inside and outside the classroom.
Your Role as an SEMH Secondary Teacher

Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to students with SEMH needs, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity.

Build trusting relationships with pupils to create a safe and supportive learning environment.

Use restorative approaches and therapeutic techniques to manage behaviour positively.

Collaborate with teaching assistants, pastoral teams, and external agencies to provide holistic support.

Encourage resilience, independence, and self-belief in every student you teach.

Monitor and record progress, adapting strategies to meet individual emotional and academic needs.

Ideal SEMH Secondary Teacher Profile
To excel in this role, you should have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.

Previous experience working as an SEMH Secondary Teacher or within an SEMH or alternative provision setting.

A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach to supporting students with SEMH and behavioural needs.

Excellent classroom management and communication skills.

A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and restorative education.

An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
