SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: Waterlooville

Salary Scale: £13.80 to £15 per hour

Start: ASAP

Key Responsibilities as an SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Supporting children with a range of special educational needs, both in and out of the classroom
  • Assisting the class teacher with planning and delivering inclusive lessons
  • Help children achieve learning and development targets
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Support children with Social, Emotional and Mental health

Qualifications & Skills required for SEMH Teaching Assistant role:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism or social and emotional needs (preferred, not essential).
  • Experience working with SEN (in school, care, or voluntary settings) preferred, not essential
  • Knowledge of and experience with behaviour management strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate effectively with parents and other professionals.
  • A patient and nurturing approach to working with children.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in SEN practices and strategies.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years. 
  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
