Science Teacher
Location: Lambeth
Salary: £39,739 – £51,545 per annum (Depending on Experience)
Hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Full-time, 1-Year Maternity Cover

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Science Teacher to join a dynamic school in Lambeth.

As a Science Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering engaging and interactive science lessons that inspire young minds. You’ll be teaching subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, helping students develop strong scientific understanding and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities of a Teacher of Science:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Science lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 according to the national curriculum.
  • Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment that supports all abilities.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing constructive feedback and differentiated support.
  • Integrate practical experiments and hands-on learning to develop students’ scientific inquiry skills.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attainment and behaviour.
  • Work collaboratively with the Science department to develop resources and schemes of work.
  • Participate in staff meetings, parent consultations, and professional development activities.
  • Ensure that Health and Safety regulations are followed during lab work and experiments.
  • Promote curiosity, enthusiasm, and independent learning among students.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular science clubs or events.

Science Teacher Requirements:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCE in Science or a related field.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
  • Proven experience teaching Science at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 levels (KS5 experience desirable).
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK science curriculum and assessment methods.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of all backgrounds and abilities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
