Job Title: Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)
Location: Dinnington
Pay Rate: £86 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health TA to join a supportive and inclusive school in Dinnington. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on pupils who may face barriers to learning due to social, emotional, or behavioural challenges.


As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs, helping them engage with learning and build resilience.
  • Implement behavioural de-escalation techniques and strategies to support positive behaviour management.
  • Work alongside teachers and pastoral teams to develop and implement personalised learning and behaviour plans.
  • Create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment that encourages emotional regulation and self-confidence.
  • Support pupils both in and outside the classroom to promote inclusion and engagement in school life.
  • Foster strong, trusting relationships that inspire pupils to achieve their goals.


Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and empathy skills.
  • Ability to stay calm and supportive in challenging situations.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to pupil support.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
