Job Title: SEMH Teacher
Location: Rotherham
Pay Rate: £150 – £230 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time

Are you a resilient and compassionate educator passionate about supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

GSL Education are seeking a qualified SEMH Teacher to join a specialist SEMH school in Rotherham, catering to both primary and secondary pupils. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young learners who require additional emotional and behavioural support.


As an SEMH Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of pupils with SEMH challenges.
  • Use behavioural de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour strategies to manage classroom situations effectively.
  • Build trusting relationships that promote emotional wellbeing, self-regulation, and motivation.
  • Create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment that encourages positive engagement and academic progress.
  • Work closely with support staff, parents, and external professionals to develop individual education and behaviour plans.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting your teaching to best support personal and academic development.


Requirements for SEMH Teacher:

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Previous experience teaching or supporting pupils with SEMH or behavioural needs (in a specialist or mainstream setting).
  • A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to managing challenging behaviour.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine commitment to helping every pupil reach their potential.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
