SEN Teaching Assistant – Wakefield
Location: Wakefield, WF4/WF5
Salary: £85 – £105 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate / Ongoing
Contract: Full-time / Long-term / Temp-to-perm

GSL Education is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work with our schools across Wakefield. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs, helping them to reach their full potential both academically and emotionally.
About the Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with classroom teachers and the SENCO to provide tailored support to students with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). You will play a key role in creating a nurturing and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one or small-group support for students with SEN/SEMH.

Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering differentiated lessons.

Encourage positive learning behaviours and emotional development.

Support students with social communication and sensory needs.

Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide feedback to teachers.

Promote inclusion and equality within the classroom.
Requirements:

Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN.

A patient, caring, and empathetic approach to learning support.

Ability to adapt to varying needs and levels of ability.
- Strong behaviour management skills.

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

References covering the last two years, including your most recent role.
