SEN and SEMH Teacher
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Salary Scale: MPS/UPS; £32,916 - £51,048 per annum
Start Date: January 2026 (Maternity Cover)
Contract Type: Full-Time
GSL Education are seeking passionate and skilled SEN and SEMH Teacher to join a supportive team and make a lasting impact on the lives of students with special educational needs and disabilities.Successful candidate will work at an Alternative Provisions located in York, North Yorkshire starting in January 2026.

SEN and SEMH Teacher Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons to students with additional social, emotional, and mental health needs.
- Create a nurturing classroom environment.
- Work closely with LSAs, SENCO, and other professionals to meet individual EHCP targets.
- Develop tailored resources and use adaptive teaching strategies.
- Collaborate with Teaching Assistants, support staff, and families to achieve the best outcomes for students.
- Build strong, respectful relationships with students Build strong, respectful relationships with students.
- Monitor and assess students’ progress.
SEN and SEMH Teacher Requirements:
- Have UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Proven experience teaching pupils with SEN and/or SEMH needs.
- A sound understanding of SEN Code of Practice and inclusive teaching strategies.
- Strong communication, empathy, and behaviour management skills.
- Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to complete one through GSL Education.
