Key Stage 3 Teaching Assistant

Location: York, North Yorkshire

Salary: £85 - £110 per day

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Full - Time

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Key Stage 3 Teaching Assistant to support students within an SEMH class working at a Primary level within our Client School’s Alternative Provision, located in York, North Yorkshire, starting as soon as possible.

Key Stage 3 Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs in both 1:1 and small group settings.
  • Assist with lesson delivery and differentiated learning activities.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation through nurture-based approaches.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students.
  • Contribute to monitoring and assessing progress.

Key Stage 3 Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Previous experience supporting children or young adults with SEMH and/or Nurture needs.
  • Empathetic, patient, and resilient approach to supporting learners.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in an Alternative Provision.
  • Knowledge of de-escalation strategies and techniques to manage challenging behavior is advantageous.
  • Hold a Child only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
