About the Role
As a 1:1 Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with a specific pupil who requires additional guidance and emotional regulation throughout the school day. You’ll play a vital role in helping the student access learning, manage behaviour positively, and develop strategies to succeed in both academic and social settings. The position is well suited to someone who is patient, calm under pressure, and genuinely motivated by helping children overcome barriers to learning.
Responsibilities

Provide individualised 1:1 support for a pupil with challenging behaviour or emotional needs.

Implement behaviour support plans and use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations.

Work alongside the class teacher and SENCo to ensure consistent approaches to behaviour and engagement.

Encourage the development of social and emotional skills, resilience, and self-esteem.

Support learning activities both inside and outside the classroom.

Maintain clear communication with staff, parents, and external professionals when needed.

Promote a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all pupils.
Qualifications

Previous experience supporting children with behavioural, SEMH, or SEN needs is essential.

Knowledge of positive behaviour management strategies and trauma-informed practice.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to support.

Right to work in the UK and an Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to apply).
