Hair and Beauty Tutor
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract: Part-Time (Monday – Wednesday), 1-Year Maternity Cover
Start Date: February 2026
GSL Education are currently recruiting for a passionate and skilled Hair and Beauty Tutor to join a specialist SEMH provision in York from February 2026. This is a part-time position (3 days per week) on a 1-year maternity contract, offering an excellent opportunity to make a lasting impact on the personal and vocational development of young people.
About the School:
The provision supports students aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as other additional learning challenges. The environment is nurturing, creative, and hands-on, focusing on helping students gain confidence, employability skills, and practical qualifications that prepare them for post-16 education and training.
About The Role:
- Deliver engaging and practical Hair and Beauty sessions to small groups of KS4 learners.
- Adapt lessons to meet a range of learning and emotional needs, ensuring all students can participate and achieve.
- Support students in developing confidence, teamwork, and employability skills.
- Maintain accurate records of progress, attendance, and achievement.
- Collaborate with pastoral staff to promote a positive learning environment and strong student engagement.
As the Ideal Candidate, you will:
- Hold a relevant qualification in Hair and Beauty or a related vocational area.
- Have experience delivering or supporting vocational learning to young people, ideally within an SEN or SEMH setting.
- Be creative, patient, and passionate about helping students gain practical skills and confidence.
- Hold a teaching qualification (PTLLS, DTLLS, PGCE, or equivalent) – desirable but not essential.
