About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Support Assistant to join the school team immediately. The role involves providing targeted support to pupils with SEMH needs, helping them access learning, regulate their emotions, and develop social and behavioural skills. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about making a real difference in children’s personal development and school experience.
Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs, ensuring engagement in learning and participation in school activities.

Assist teachers in delivering lessons and interventions tailored to pupils’ individual social, emotional, and behavioural goals.

Support pupils with personal care as required, maintaining dignity and respect.

Implement positive behaviour strategies to manage challenging behaviour and promote self-regulation.

Encourage pupils’ independence, resilience, and social skills across the school day.

Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to deliver consistent and needs-based support.

Maintain accurate records and contribute to the development and monitoring of support plans.
Qualifications and Experience

Experience working with pupils with SEMH or additional learning needs is highly desirable.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills with patience and empathy.

Knowledge of safeguarding, behaviour management, and inclusive education strategies.

Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3, Health and Social Care, or Education Support are advantageous.

Must have the right to work in the UK and hold, or be willing to apply for, an Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service.
