Job description

Role: SEMH Teacher
Location: Rotherham (S66) and surrounding areas
Salary: £750 – £1,150 per week (dependent on experience)
️ Start Date: ASAP or November

Are you the kind of teacher who sees potential where others see challenge? Do you believe that every child—no matter their circumstances—deserves a chance to thrive? If so, this role could be your next rewarding chapter.

We’re looking for a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teacher to join our network of specialist schools in and around Rotherham. Here, you’ll have the chance to make a genuine difference in the lives of students with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH)—guiding them toward stability, confidence, and academic success.

About Us

Our schools are dedicated to nurturing young people who need a bit of extra understanding and support. We believe that education should adapt to the learner, not the other way around. As part of our committed and collaborative team, you’ll play a key role in creating a safe, inclusive environment where every student feels valued and heard.

The Role

As an SEMH Teacher, you’ll be more than an educator—you’ll be a mentor, advocate, and steady influence. Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Tailored Teaching: Planning creative and individualised lessons that meet each student’s learning needs and emotional development.

  • Emotional Guidance: Building trusting relationships, providing calm consistency, and supporting students to manage their emotions and behaviour.

  • Collaboration: Working closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and parents to create joined-up support plans.

  • Monitoring Progress: Tracking each student’s academic and personal development, celebrating successes (big and small) along the way.

  • Promoting Inclusion: Championing an inclusive, empathetic school culture where every learner feels safe and supported.

What You’ll Need

  • UK QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent.

  • Proven experience teaching or supporting students with SEMH or additional needs.

  • Strong communication skills and an unshakable sense of empathy and patience.

  • Adaptability and resilience—because no two days are ever quite the same.

  • A genuine passion for helping young people reach their potential, both inside and outside the classroom.

What’s In It for You

  • A full-time position with immediate or flexible start.

  • Access to ongoing professional development and SEMH-specific training.

  • A supportive, forward-thinking environment where teamwork is key.

  • The chance to make a lasting impact on the lives of students who need it most.

If you’re ready to teach with heart, make a difference every day, and join a community that truly values its educators—we’d love to hear from you.

Please note: This role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. All successful applicants will be subject to relevant background checks, including an enhanced DBS check registered on the update service.
