Job description

Are you a caring, enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistant looking to make a difference in a warm and supportive primary school?

A well regarded school in Chelmsford is seeking a KS1 Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible on a full time basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves working with children and is passionate about supporting their learning and wellbeing within a nurturing school community.

The Role

As a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the class teacher and helping children in Year 1 and Year 2 reach their full potential. You’ll provide both general classroom assistance and targeted support to individual pupils or small groups.

Your day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the class teacher with daily classroom activities and lesson delivery

  • Working with pupils 1:1 and in small groups to reinforce learning and build confidence

  • Assisting with behaviour management and promoting a positive, inclusive atmosphere

  • Preparing learning materials and supporting classroom organisation

  • Encouraging pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development

  • Working closely with colleagues to ensure all pupils are supported effectively

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in working with children (school-based experience preferred)

  • Patient, caring, and enthusiastic about helping children succeed

  • Able to use initiative and work well as part of a team

  • A strong communicator who builds positive relationships with pupils and staff

  • Flexible, reliable, and committed to supporting children’s learning and wellbeing

A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience) would be an advantage, but not essential for the right person.
