Food Technician – Exciting Opportunity in Newham!

GSL Education London Branch are looking for a Food Technician to join a vibrant and welcoming coeducational secondary school in Newham. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and organised Food Technician who enjoys supporting students and teachers in a creative and practical learning environment.

As a Food Technician, you will play a key role in helping students develop essential life skills through exciting and engaging food lessons. You’ll assist with lesson preparation, ensure that all materials and ingredients are ready, and help maintain a safe and efficient food technology classroom.

This Food Technician role is perfect for someone who has a passion for food, enjoys working in a school environment, and wants to make a difference in students’ learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Food Technology department in preparing ingredients, equipment, and resources for lessons.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation in food preparation areas and classrooms.

  • Ensure all food hygiene and safety standards are followed at all times.

  • Assist students during practical lessons under the direction of the class teacher.

  • Monitor and manage stock levels of food supplies and order resources as needed.

  • Carry out basic maintenance of kitchen equipment and report any faults.

  • Support teachers with administrative tasks when required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Food Technician or in a similar school-based or catering role is desirable.

  • Good knowledge of food hygiene, health, and safety practices.

  • Strong organisational and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

  • A friendly, positive, and proactive attitude.

  • A valid enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
