Job Title: Behaviour Mentor
Location: Bournemouth
Salary: £23,608 - £25,594 (37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year) | £27,694 - £30,024 (FTE)
Start date: Immediate
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on students' lives? Do you have experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural challenges? GSL Education are looking for a dedicated and empathetic Behaviour Mentor to join a local SEN primary school immediately.
About the School:
The school is a special education setting that caters to children from primary age, with a focus on those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. It also supports students with Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs). The school offers small class sizes, typically with no more than seven pupils per class, and is supported by high staffing levels to ensure individual attention. Facilities include purpose-built classrooms, a sensory room, therapy hub, quiet rooms, a food technology kitchen, a creative learning room, sports hall, outdoor play areas, a large playground, an outdoor learning area, and a courtyard garden. The school emphasises a calm and nurturing environment that fosters resilience, safety, and respect. It follows the National Curriculum, offering a flexible timetable that combines traditional primary and secondary school learning, adapted to meet the diverse needs of its pupils.
About the Role:
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will provide 1:1 support to students who need help regulating their emotions and behaviour, ensuring they can thrive in the classroom environment. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, enabling students to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to students with emotional and behavioural challenges
- Assist in the development and implementation of Behaviour Support Plans
- Use positive reinforcement techniques to promote self-regulation and positive behaviour
- Work alongside teachers to monitor and assess students' progress
- Foster a nurturing and supportive environment that helps students develop essential social and emotional skills
- Collaborate with parents, carers, and outside agencies to ensure a holistic approach to supporting students

- Team Teach trained highly desirable
- Experience working with students who have emotional and behavioural needs
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students
- An empathetic and patient approach to supporting children
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to working as part of a team
- A proactive attitude and the ability to adapt to the needs of individual students
