Location: Bournemouth
Salary: £13.68 – £16.12 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about supporting children with Autism and helping them achieve their full potential? GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Autism Support Worker to join schools in Bournemouth.

As an Autism Support Worker, you will work closely with students on the autism spectrum, providing one-to-one and small group support to help them access the curriculum and develop social, emotional, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in classroom and individual settings.
  • Assist teachers in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Promote positive communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
  • Help students build independence and confidence in both academic and personal development.
  • Encourage engagement through sensory-based and structured learning activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and liaise with teachers, parents, and SENCOs.

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with Autism (ASC) or other special educational needs is essential.
  • Understanding of autism-friendly strategies, such as PECS, Makaton, or TEACCH, is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Health and Social Care, or equivalent are desirable.
