Art Graduate – SEMH School (Halstead)

Salary: £90 – £130 per day

Are you a creative and enthusiastic Art Graduate looking to make a meaningful difference in education?
Do you want to use your artistic skills to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and help them express themselves through creativity?

About the School

Our SEMH school in Halstead provides a nurturing and inclusive environment for students who require additional emotional and behavioural support. The school believes in the power of creativity and expression to build confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being.


The Role

As an Art Graduate, you will support the delivery of creative art sessions and assist the class teacher in engaging students through practical, hands-on learning. You’ll help create a positive and supportive classroom environment where students feel safe expressing themselves and exploring their creativity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and delivery of engaging art activities.

  • Work 1:1 and in small groups to motivate and encourage students.

  • Use art as a means to support emotional expression and confidence building.

  • Provide classroom support to teachers and contribute to behaviour management strategies.

  • Assist with art displays, projects, and creative enrichment activities.


Requirements:

  • A degree in Art, Fine Art, or a related creative subject.

  • Passion for working with young people and supporting their development.

  • Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to behaviour management.

  • Previous experience in education, youth work, or SEN/SEMH settings is desirable but not essential.

  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
