Our SEMH school in Halstead provides a nurturing and inclusive environment for students who require additional emotional and behavioural support. The school believes in the power of creativity and expression to build confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being.
The Role
As an Art Graduate, you will support the delivery of creative art sessions and assist the class teacher in engaging students through practical, hands-on learning. You’ll help create a positive and supportive classroom environment where students feel safe expressing themselves and exploring their creativity.
Key Responsibilities:

Support the planning and delivery of engaging art activities.

Work 1:1 and in small groups to motivate and encourage students.

Use art as a means to support emotional expression and confidence building.

Provide classroom support to teachers and contribute to behaviour management strategies.

Assist with art displays, projects, and creative enrichment activities.
Requirements:

A degree in Art, Fine Art, or a related creative subject.

Passion for working with young people and supporting their development.

Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to behaviour management.

Previous experience in education, youth work, or SEN/SEMH settings is desirable but not essential.

Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
