Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Doncaster
Pay Rate: £86 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Doncaster. This rewarding role provides an excellent opportunity to help pupils develop confidence, resilience, and a positive attitude towards learning in a nurturing environment.

As an SEMH TA, you will support pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to overcome learning barriers and achieve positive academic and personal progress.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide targeted one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
  • Support pupils in managing emotions, building positive relationships, and improving behaviour.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to meet pupils’ individual needs.

Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience supporting pupils or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs (school or alternative provision experience desirable).
  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach to supporting behaviour and learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to foster trust and encourage positive progress.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A full CV covering the last 10 years, including explanations for any employment gaps.
