Teaching Assistant – Portsmouth, Hampshire
Start Date: Immediate / After October Half Term | Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent or Ad-Hoc Basis
Salary: £13.68 per hour

GSL Education are currently recruiting dedicated Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Portsmouth. This role is an excellent opportunity for those passionate about supporting young learners, as well as university students looking to gain hands-on experience in a professional school environment.

As a Teaching Assistant (TA), you will play a crucial role in supporting teachers and pupils, fostering a positive learning atmosphere, and helping students achieve their academic goals. With both permanent and ad-hoc opportunities available, this role offers flexibility while providing a rewarding pathway into education.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one and group support to pupils in the classroom.
  • Assist teachers in lesson delivery and maintaining classroom routines.
  • Encourage pupil engagement and help them remain focused on tasks.
  • Contribute to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Adapt effectively to different subjects and classroom settings.

Teaching Assistant (TA) Requirements:

  • A genuine passion for education and supporting young people.
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or similar.
  • A degree in Education or a similar field.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to engage with students and encourage positive learning behaviours.
  • A proactive, adaptable, and enthusiastic approach.
  • Previous experience in schools, nurseries, or childcare is desirable.
  • Have an updated CV and an Enhanced DBS registered on the update service, or willingness to apply.
