Behavioural Pastoral Officer – Portsmouth
Full Time | Permanent | Immediate Start or After Half Term

GSL Education are seeking a Behavioural Pastoral Officer to join a mainstream secondary school in Portsmouth on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and resilient individual to make a real difference to the lives of young people.

The successful candidate will support students in overcoming barriers to learning, promoting positive behaviour, and ensuring that all pupils have access to a safe and supportive environment. This role will involve working closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to provide targeted pastoral support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and mentor students who display challenging behaviour.

  • Develop and implement strategies to promote positive behaviour and engagement.

  • Work alongside staff to ensure students remain on track with their learning.

  • Provide a safe space for pupils, offering guidance and emotional support.

  • Liaise with parents/carers and outside agencies where appropriate.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with young people with behavioural needs.

  • Demonstrate patience, resilience, and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Be confident in managing challenging situations effectively.

  • Show commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
