Behaviour Support Worker
Location: Christchurch
Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time

Are you committed to helping young people overcome behavioural challenges and achieve their potential in education? GSL Education are seeking dedicated Behaviour Support Workers to join schools in Christchurch.

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with behavioural needs, ensuring they remain engaged in learning and feel supported in their personal development. You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils in managing behaviour and developing coping strategies.
  • Encourage positive social interaction and emotional regulation.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to adapt classroom activities for individual needs.
  • Build trusting and supportive relationships with pupils.
  • Promote a calm, structured learning atmosphere.
  • Provide feedback to teachers, SENCOs, and parents regarding progress and challenges.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally in a behaviour or SEN setting.
  • CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare, Teaching Assistance, or equivalent qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong communication, de-escalation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting pupils with behavioural challenges.
  • A sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection.

  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
