SEN Support Worker
Location: Bournemouth
Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs to thrive in their learning and personal development? GSL Education are looking for compassionate and dedicated SEN Support Workers to join schools in Bournemouth.

As a SEN Support Worker, you will provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs. Working closely with teachers and other staff, you will help to ensure pupils feel supported, encouraged, and able to access the curriculum in a positive and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with SEN, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Encourage independence, self-confidence, and resilience in learning.
  • Assist teachers in planning and adapting lessons to meet individual needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support pupils in overcoming challenges.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to achieve the best outcomes for pupils.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally in a SEN setting.
  • CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare, Teaching Assistance, or equivalent qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting learning.
  • A sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection.

  • Have the right to work in the UK.

  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
