Are you passionate about supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs?
We’re looking for a caring and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Loughton. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference, providing 1:1 and small group support to children who need extra help to engage with learning and develop their confidence.

The school is well-regarded, with a supportive staff team and a strong focus on nurturing every child. You’ll be working alongside dedicated teachers and support staff who truly care about creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing 1:1 support for a child with SEMH needs.

  • Supporting social, emotional, and behavioural development.

  • Helping the child engage with lessons and access learning.

  • Building positive, trusting relationships.

  • Using patience, empathy, and consistency to encourage progress.

  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow support plans.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs (school, childcare, or similar setting).

  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach.

  • Strong behaviour management skills and resilience.

  • A team player who is proactive and flexible.

  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s education and wellbeing.
