Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)

Pay Rate: £86 – £100 per day (depending on experience)

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated SEMH TA to join a specialist school in Chesterfield. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with additional needs, help them overcome barriers to learning, and encourage positive social and emotional development.
Role Overview:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis. You will provide tailored support, encourage engagement, and implement strategies to promote positive behaviour and resilience.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide classroom and pastoral support to pupils with SEMH needs.
- Deliver targeted interventions to help pupils achieve academic and personal goals.
- Implement behaviour management strategies and encourage emotional regulation.
- Promote confidence, independence, and positive relationships.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to support pupils’ progress.
- Uphold high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare.
Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and behaviour management skills.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Must hold a full UK driving licence with business insurance.
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
