Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Sheffield (S11)
Pay Rate: £95 – £120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a school in Sheffield (S11). This role provides a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of pupils by helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop the skills needed to succeed.
Role Overview:
As an SEMH TA, you will work closely with teaching staff to provide tailored support to pupils with SEMH needs. You will help create a safe and nurturing environment, encourage positive behaviour, and support both the academic and emotional development of students.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils with SEMH needs in the classroom and during activities.
- Provide one-to-one and small group interventions to promote learning and engagement.
- Encourage positive behaviour and resilience through consistent support.
- Assist teachers in implementing personalised learning strategies.
- Build trusting relationships to support pupils’ emotional and social development.
- Uphold high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare.
Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (school or alternative setting).
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting pupils.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
