Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR 1D - £16,553.00

GSL Education London Branch are excited to announce that we are looking for a Head of Humanities (Geography Specialist) to join a coeducational comprehensive secondary school and sixth form in Tower Hamlets. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven leader to make a real impact in a supportive and forward-thinking school community.

As the Head of Humanities, you will lead the Humanities department with passion and vision, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages. This is your chance to inspire both staff and students, shape curriculum development, and drive academic success.

We are looking for a Head of Humanities who is committed to excellence, has strong subject knowledge in Geography, and enjoys leading a team of talented teachers.

Head of Humanities Responsibilities

  • Lead, inspire, and manage the Humanities department as the Head of Humanities.

  • Develop and implement high-quality schemes of work and lesson plans across Humanities subjects.

  • Monitor and support teaching standards to ensure outstanding learning outcomes.

  • Support professional development and mentoring of staff within the department.

  • Analyse student performance data and set clear targets to drive improvement.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

  • Collaborate with school leadership to ensure the strategic development of Humanities.

  • Promote student engagement through innovative teaching and enrichment opportunities.

Head of Humanities Requirements

  • Strong knowledge and expertise in Geography, with a passion for Humanities education.

  • Experience in leading a department and managing a team of teachers.

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.

  • Commitment to safeguarding, child protection, and creating a safe learning environment.

  • Ability to motivate and inspire both staff and students.
