Pastoral Lead
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £93 - £115 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

Are you a compassionate and motivated professional with a passion for supporting young people’s wellbeing and academic journey?

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Pastoral Lead to work within schools in Sheffield, ensuring students receive the care, guidance, and encouragement they need to thrive both in and outside the classroom.

This role is central to creating a safe and nurturing school environment where students feel valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to provide effective pastoral care and help students overcome barriers to learning.

What you have to do as a Pastoral Lead:

  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to students across all year groups.
  • Build positive relationships with students to encourage attendance, engagement, and personal development.
  • Identify and address barriers to learning, including behavioural, social, and emotional challenges.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external partners to deliver holistic support.
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion at all times.
  • Monitor and track students’ progress and wellbeing, implementing strategies for improvement.

Pastoral Lead Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young people in a pastoral, mentoring, or support capacity.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, wellbeing, and behaviour management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with students and families.
  • Ability to remain calm, resilient, and supportive in challenging situations.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, youth work, or a related field are desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
