Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Chesterfield
Pay Rate: £86 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a school in Chesterfield. This full-time role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.

Role Overview:
As an SEMH TA, you will provide tailored support to pupils with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom. You will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. Due to the nature of the role, a full UK driving licence is required.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
  • Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and engagement in learning.
  • Build trusting relationships to help pupils develop social and emotional skills.
  • Assist teachers with delivering tailored learning activities.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Uphold safeguarding and child protection standards at all times.

Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH or additional needs is desirable.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential.
  • Strong communication, empathy, and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and resilient under pressure.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
