We are delighted to be working with a well-regarded and welcoming primary school in Chelmsford, who are looking for a caring and dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to start immediately. The school is known for its supportive staff, inclusive ethos, and strong focus on helping every child reach their full potential.

This role involves working on a 1:1 basis with a child with special educational needs (SEN), supporting their academic learning as well as their social and emotional development. It’s a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a difference in a child’s school journey.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing 1:1 support tailored to a child’s individual needs, both in class and during interventions.

  • Supporting the child’s access to the curriculum, adapting activities where necessary.

  • Helping to develop social skills, independence, and confidence.

  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to follow the child’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and creating a supportive, nurturing environment.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN (autism, ADHD, speech & language, or other additional needs) is desirable.

  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children and staff.

  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs to thrive.
