Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: South East London (Greenwich)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time

Are you passionate about supporting students with special educational needs? GSL Education is seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join schools in Greenwich on a full-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people with additional needs while gaining valuable school-based experience.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require tailored support, helping them to reach their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. You’ll assist in classroom activities, provide 1:1 support, and ensure that pupils’ individual needs are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Individual Support: Provide 1:1 or small group support, adapting your approach to meet each student’s unique needs.

  • Classroom Assistance: Support the teacher in creating an inclusive learning environment.

  • Personal Care: Offer support with personal care needs where required.

  • Behaviour Support: Use positive strategies to help pupils develop social and emotional skills.

  • Resource Preparation: Assist in preparing materials and resources for lessons.

  • Progress Monitoring: Track and record student progress, contributing to planning and assessment.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN is highly desirable.

  • Strong understanding of needs such as Autism, Learning Difficulties, Speech & Language challenges, and SEMH.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.

  • Strong behaviour management skills.

  • Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs.

  • Enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply).
